One of the last remaining newspaper websites to still charge users to view content, the Financial Times, is to offer readers an opportunity to view the site for free the week beginning 6 March 2006. To be honest I don't see much opportunity for sites to charge for viewing content when all the competition is offering the same thing for free. Even if all the newspapers begin charging once again people will just turn to other sources like the BBC for news and insight. The only thing that stands in the FT's favour is that it appeals to a niché audience but I still believe it will become free in time.
